Serendipity
Bio

Serendipity. n. 1. The act of finding something delightful when you are not looking for it.

Serendipity was sparked in the Summer of 2009, with the meeting of Alison and Jeremy.  Both seasoned musicians who previously played/sang in various bands, groups and duos over the past 10 years, we found instant chemistry together. Our set list is an eclectic, sultry, soulful mix of jazz standards, blues, folk and toe-tapping original tunes.

Serendipity is: Alison Perkins Wood; vocals & Jeremy Wood; guitar, mandolin, bass guitar, vocals.

We are also available to play gigs as a quartet! Please see our BAND page to meet the rest of our band.

The band was featured in November 2010 on WFMY News 2's Good Morning Show in a segment called "Live From Studio 2".

We are currently available for bookings. Please contact us if you are interested in hiring Serendipity for your venue, dinner entertainment or private function.

Some of our various influences include: Diana Krall, Corinne Bailey Rae, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, Harry Connick Jr., Billie Holliday, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Michael Buble, Nat King Cole, Miles Davis, Joss Stone, Eva Cassidy, Django Rhinehardt, David Grisman, George Benson, John McLaughlin, Frank Zappa & Jimi Hendrix.

Holiday Happenings and Exciting News!

Wow, the year has flown by and we are already just a few short weeks from Christmas again!  You will have quite a few opportunities to catch us playing live this holiday season. We hope you won't miss the quartet live at Vintage 301 on Saturday, December 11. It will be the place to BE for cocktails, wine, great food and a rockin' music party with Serendipity! We do have limited availability to play private holiday parties, so please contact us NOW if you're interested in booking the duo, trio or quartet for your holiday event.

We recently had the opportunity to play on WFMY News 2 during their "Live From Studio 2" segment. We have gotten lots of positive feedback about our performance and we are so grateful for our fans, both old and new! If you missed the live show, you can see the video highlights on www.digtriad.com.

We recently recorded a second album of songs as a duo (Jeremy and Alison) which will be available soon. It is a collection of jazz standards and ballads, perfect to set a relaxing mood. The quartet has also started recording an album of our original songs and we hope to release it next spring. Check out our first tune, "Lick Your Wounds", as a podcast with this blog.

We wish everyone a joyful Holiday season and a BIG thank you for your love and support!

Much Love,
Serendipity

A Serendipitous Summer!

Whew! It has been a whirlwind summer so far and we're gearing up for a busy August to close out the season! Thanks to everyone who has come out to see and hear us! Your love and support is so overwhelming and it definitely motivates us to keep on keepin' on with our musical endeavors. Speaking of musical endeavors, we just returned from a fabulous cruise vacation to the Bahamas and Key West! We shared our musical talents onboard the ship in the Talent Show, Alison belted out tunes nightly in the karaoke lounge and we even had an impromptu performance at the famous Sloppy Joes in Key West... we introduced ourselves to Gary, who was playing a set during lunch, and he called us up onstage to play a couple of tunes! Thanks to Gary and a BIG SHOUT OUT to all of our new friends and supporters who sailed with us this week on the Carnival Fantasy!

As for our upcoming gigs, we will be playing Thursday nights at The Bistro at Adams Farm, the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at George's in High Point and several upcoming dates at Sweet Basil's and Basil & Co. in Greensboro. On the 13th, we'll be playing a House Concert in Cary, NC and then from there, we'll head down to beautiful Beaufort, NC to play at the Cru Wine Bar & Coffeehouse on Saturday, August 14th.

We hope to see you at a show! For a complete listing of upcoming shows, please see our "Shows" page. Thanks again for supporting live music!!

Summer Happenings and House Concerts

Summer is almost here and we can't wait! We will kick off our summer music tour with an appearance at the Twin City Rib Fest in Winston Salem on Sunday, June 13. This will be our first live show with the new quartet. We are excited to welcome our bass player, James and percussionist, Micah to the band! We will also be at the Greensboro Summer Solstice Festival on June 20- come out for a day of music, crafts, faeries and fun for the whole family. We are currently booking for our Summer House Concert Tour. House concerts are intimate shows presented in the living room or backyard of a host for an audience of friends and music lovers. Guests usually bring a dish for a pot-luck dinner and everyone offers a donation of $10-$20 to pay the musicians for providing the evening's entertainment. Interested in finding out more or booking us for a House Concert? Email us or check out this link.

Give us feedback!

We love to see that we are getting more and more new visitors to our site every day, so please take a moment and introduce yourself! Leave a comment on our blog or post a message on our message board and let us know what you think... or if you'd like Serendipity to come to your hometown to perform! We would LOVE to hear from you!

Back from ATL...

We had a blast in Atlanta! The weather was sunny and warm as we headed downtown for the big audition on Saturday. Lines were long, but we met some great people to talk to and jam with to pass the time! When we FINALLY got called up to audition, we gave it our best shot! We chose to do "A Wink and A Smile" for our audition piece and everyone seemed to enjoy our performance. Hopefully, we were charming enough to be called back... though we won't find out the results for a few weeks. Whether or not we make it, we had a fabulous adventure that we will never forget!

We're auditioning for America's Got Talent!

Wish us luck and a safe journey as we head to Atlanta to audition for America's Got Talent on February 20th! We're still pondering what song to do for our audition piece, so feel free to put in your two-cents and let us know what you think! We'll keep you posted on the results...
